The role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Data and Business Information Directorate working in the Data Quality and Improvement Team covering maternity leave for 12 months.
We’re looking for an outstanding data professional with demonstrable skills in leading a team to deliver improvements in data quality and who thrives in a collaborative environment.
You will be responsible for activity & projects that deliver improvements to data quality and information management across the organisation.
You’ll be reporting to the Head of Data Quality & Improvement working closely with the wider Data & Business Information Team, as well as various stakeholders across the business.
The location
You’ll be based in our modern, vibrant office in Farringdon, London. However, we offer the flexibility for agile working to allow you to work from home and we’ll provide the necessary mobile working equipment.
What you’ll be doing:
Coach, develop and line manage the team, ensuring they are kept up to date with sector, professional and legislative changes and best practice fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Lead team to develop and implement data quality standards, policies, and procedures in collaboration with Data and Information owners and Stewards.
Deploy data quality framework and create tooling for Data and Information owners to self-serve and conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address data quality issues.
Ensure provision of training, including e-learning and face-to-face, as required to colleagues across the organisation to enable data quality self-service to appropriate levels.
Present findings and recommendations to Information Governance Group, Data Governance Steering Group, Executive Team, senior management and other stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
Identify opportunities for improving data collection, processing, and reporting practices. Making efficient use of tolling and processes in place and recommending innovative ways of working where needed.
Lead projects aimed at enhancing data quality and ensuring effective use of data across the organization. Ensure activity supports the organisations Strategic Plan, Data Strategy and other relevant strategies.
Support the Head of Data Quality and Improvement and deputise as required.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote data quality initiatives.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to data management and privacy including Statistical Data Return.
Develop and maintain documentation for data quality policy, framework and processes.
Evaluate and implement data management tools and technologies to support data quality efforts. Lead relationship with current Data Quality tool supplier.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in data management.
Monitor and report on data quality metrics, ensuring transparency and accountability.
What you’ll need:
To be successful in the role you’ll need strong experience of leading a data quality function where the focus is on improving the data literacy of stakeholders to effectively manage the quality of the data they own. Proven experience in data quality management, data analysis, or related roles, preferably within the social housing sector.
A solid understanding of data quality concepts; experience of managing, controlling, reporting data quality and integrity and reporting outcomes in KPIs. An understanding of Housing Associations and RSLs and their regulatory responsibilities including the Statistical Data Return.
You’ll possess strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders adapting styles as required.
Experience in building relationships with various stakeholders to understand data needs and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Proficiency in data management tools and software (e.g., SQL, Excel, data governance and quality tools). With a familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices.
You’ll have a proactive mindset focused on identifying opportunities for process enhancement and data quality improvement.
Qualifications in DAMA and reporting BI solutions (including SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS and SAAS) are desirable.

What information do we collect?
